An arctic hare in the field.
Some of these fellows, that are living near human settlements, are highly playful and do not fear humans at all. Others, like this one, are highly cautious.
In general, at first I didn't even want to take a picture of this guy as he was very far away, and I didn't have a good telelens at the time. A group of more seasoned photographers from our trip decided to chase after him, and as they got closer, they started sneaking up very carefully to get that perfect shot. I followed them just in case, but since I'm about as gracious as a bull in a china store, I just sat on a boulder far away to admire the beautiful landscape around us. So imagine my surprise when I saw that this guy not only sensed my friends and started to run away, he started running ... straight at me! And stopped literally two meters away! I was extremely lucky with this shot and had all time in the world to capture him. Thank you, Mr. Hare.
